Preventing Job Related Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
This paper looks at the evidence in relation to risk factors for developing job related posttraumatic stress disorder. The aims and usefulness of debriefing as an early intervention to prevent this are examined. This information is applied to health practitioners working in small communities. A set of 'good practice' guidelines are developed to provide psychological support for health practitioners following job related traumatic events in small community settings.
